Characteristics and advantages of fluororubber commonly used in valves

Fluorine rubber is a kind of synthetic rubber containing fluorine atoms. It has excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, oil resistance and drug resistance. It is mainly used in aviation, chemical industry, petroleum, automobile and other industrial departments as sealing material, medium resistant material and insulating material. A synthetic rubber containing fluorine atoms in its molecular structure.

It is usually expressed by the number of fluorine atoms of fluorine-containing units in the copolymer. For example, fluororubber 23 is a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and chlorotrifluoroethylene. Fluororubber is resistant to high temperature, oil and chemical corrosion.

Advantages of fluororubber:

1. Excellent high temperature resistance: the service temperature ranges from – 60 ℃ to 250 ℃. Excellent oil resistance: the resistance to high temperature fuel oil, sulfur-containing lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, diester oil, silicate ester and other oils is better than other rubbers.

3. Excellent resistance to strong corrosive medium and strong oxidant; Its stability in strong corrosive media such as fuming nitric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide and concentrated alkali is better than other rubbers.

4. Good mechanical properties, electrical insulation and radiation resistance.

5. Good resistance to high vacuum.

Application scope of fluororubber:

1. When the fluorine rubber is affected by moisture and water or when the temperature rises, the change is small. Even if the silicon dioxide generated by short-circuit combustion is still an insulator, it ensures that the electrical equipment continues to work, so it is suitable for making wires, cables and lead wires.

2. Fluoroplastic tube can be used for conveying and sealing various strong acid and alkali, steam, hot air, hot oil and other fluids. It can also be used for household appliances, lighting and medical devices; 3. The working pressure of fluororubber tube (0.5-3.0 MPa) can be protected by joint and stainless steel net cover.

4. Fluoroplastic strip is also used for wire jacket in harsh working environment.;

5. Fluororubber has outstanding high temperature and corrosion resistance, and has the reputation of king of rubber. It can be processed into rubber tube, adhesive tape, film, gasket, (framework) oil seal, “O” ring, “V” ring, etc., which are widely used in aviation, automobile, petroleum, chemical industry, telecommunication, instrument and other fields.

As we all know, each valve has to use different sealing materials, such as ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), nitrile rubber (NBR), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), fluororubber (Viton), silicone rubber (SEP), heat and wear resistant rubber EPDM, cemented carbide, alloy steel.
